About the event
Vivaldi’s beautifully layered Concerto RV 129 opens this performance. Then Bach's magnificent 6th Brandenburg Concerto, composed for the lower strings only, is like a warm, lively heartbeat. We are delighted that the highly gifted Ellie Malonzo returns to play her own composition, Concerto for Two Violins in G Minor - a world premiere - with her teacher, Paul Wright. Ellie, now 13 years old, started violin at age 5, began composing at age 6, became WAYO Philarmonic's caoncertmaster at 11 and has a truly impressive list of prizes from around the world. It was said in his day that Alessandro Rolla's romantlc, virtuosic viola playing would make women faint. So beware when virtuoso Paul Wright performs Rolla's Divertimento for Viola and Strings. Brahms Sextet No. 1 Allegro ma non troppo was written in a time of great romantic turmoil for Brahms, "the fuller sonority of the string sextet suited his love of weaving rich contrapuntal tapestries." To finish, Dvorak's Romance "one of those bright stars of a piece - an expression of an affable quality that one can't quite explain why it so beckons the heart or how it so deeply affects the soul." Simply ENJOY!
